About Us

The Institute of Social Work and Social Science is an internationally supported degree-granting educational institution located in Haiti. We were founded in 2011 to provide undergraduate social work and social science training in both theory and practice. We currently offer a BSW and MSW in Social Work as well as undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Science including Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and Political Science. A Haitian Creole program is also offered for students who wish to complete intensive coursework in Haitian Creole language. The Creole Language Institute is designed for researchers, students and development workers who anticipate depending on Haitian Creole as their primary means of communication.

Se Enstiti nan Lang lan pandan ete a ki fèt pou chèchè,elèv yo, ak travayè nan devlopman ki komanse ak Creole Haitian kòm yon mwayen prensipal nan kominikasyon yo.



Undergraduate Programs

Courses are designed to introduce the student to social work study and practice while developing essential skills in written and oral communication, critical thinking, and quantitative methods as basis for further study. A comprehensive curriculum includes social work foundation courses (taken during the first two years), extensive foreign language offerings, social science education, and a rigorous series of advanced social work classes that exceed the courses required by the Council on Social Work Education.

Admissions

The Institute's mission is to teach students to work with vulnerable and underserved populations and prepare them to competently fulfill research, leadership, and policy-shaping positions in foreign and national organizations working with these populations. The admissions process welcomes students who are committed to these objectives. Applicants must show the potential to succeed in social work practice by demonstrating interest, commitment, compatible personal values, interpersonal skills and academic ability.
